Mountain Biking The Brecon Beacons National Park boasts some of the UK's finest mountain biking with an extensive network of bridleways, RUPPs (roads used as public paths), forest tracks and trails to suit all levels of expertise and fitness. Best known are the Sarn Helen Roman road and Gap road through the Beacons, but there are many other classic rides that include climbs to over 2000 feet followed by adrenalin pumping descents along dirt tracks into deep wooded valleys. We keep a set of route guides to 16 way-marked mountain bike routes in the area that are all easily accessible from the Bunkhouse, and offer everything from short and easy summer-evening saunters to full-on all-day epics. Or use our library of Guide Books and O/S Maps of the area plan new, different and exciting routes of your own to follow. Less than 30 minutes away are three of Wales's top mountain-biking centres at Llanwrtyd Wells, Afon Argoed Forest and Cwm Carn Forest. These centres offer dedicated way-marked routes developed by experienced mountain bikers to test and extend your skills, ensuring the ride of a lifetime. |
